Gossamer Felting (process class): You will learn to make very lightweight felt by felting into a sheer base fabric. Felts of this type are suitable for clothing (the piece above is a wrap created from white merino that I then dyed; you will not be doing any dyeing in this class. The other images are details of the wrap), These felts are suitable for clothing, art pieces, decor art etc. If time (and energy!) allow, you will also create samples of regular felt.

Thread Webs & Cording (process): Learn to create thread webs using old threads, yarns, strings, fabric scraps, and anything that can be stitched and be immersed in water. Using water soluble laundry bags, you will explore this fun and versatile technique. Finished webs can be used in wearable art, decor art, and other art pieces. You will also experiment with making cords on the sewing machine. This class requires a sewing machine capable of zigzag stitch, a universal foot (for straight stitching), and a darning foot. Your machine also should have feed dogs that can be dropped or otherwise covered up for free motion stitching and cord making.

When: Saturday, October 18, 10:30 - 2:30 (approximately)

Cost: $65 + materials fee (to be determined)

Altered Egos (project class): Using scrap fabric and whimsical embellishments, you will make funky little effigies. Requires a sewing machine with a universal foot for straight stitching. Only you know what your alter ego looks like... after this class maybe your classmates will know too! You will take home one or more altered egos (perhaps one for each family member/friend... your interpretation of their alter ego--- surprise them/shock them).

When: Saturday, November 15, 10:30 - 2:30 (approximately)

Cost: $65 + materials fee (to be determined)
