* ITSA Studio is my working studio, and where I teach
* One day classes are approximately 4 1/2 hours in length: 10:30 AM - 3:00 PM
* All classes take place at ITSA Studio in Sacramento, CA unless another location is specified
* Class sizes are limited (usually 5-10 people depending on the class)
* Attendance requires paid pre-registration

*** I teach both process/technique classes and project classes *** A process class is a class where you learn a technique, as compared to a project class where you make an actual object.

Gossamer Felting
|
|
|
|
You will learn to make very lightweight felt by felting into a sheer base fabric. You will make samples or small wall hangings or ??? You will not be doing any dyeing in this class. This type of felting is suitable for clothing, art pieces, decor art etc.
When: July 26, 10:30 am - 3:00 pm.
Cost: $65 + $22 materials fee

Thread Webs
|

|
|
Learn to create thread webs using old threads, yarns, strings, fabric scraps, and anything that can be stitched and immersed in water. Using water soluble laundry bags, you will explore this fun and versatile technique. Finished webs can be used in wearable art, decor art, and other art pieces. You may choose to make a scarf or small wall hanging or ??? This class requires a sewing machine, a universal foot (for straight stitching - Teflon foot highly recommended), darning foot optional.
When: August 6, 10:30 am - 3 pm
Cost: $65 + $15 materials fee

Studio Play Day

Do you need space, inspiration, a break from your own studio/work space? Want to hang out and work with around other creative folks in the same situation? Want to work on one of those unfinished projects? Questions about materials/supplies? ITSA Studio is available for just those situations. A variety of supplies will be available for your use, and light snacks & beverages will keep you going. Not a class, but a chance to get fresh eyes and input on your projects.
When: August 10, 10:30 am - 4 pm
Cost: $35 per person, per day; limited to 5 people

Fiber Mosaic (3D)
|
|
|
|
Using gel medium (acrylic) and fibers (paper, misc. images, fabrics, embellishments, threads/string etc.) you will experiment with creating mosaics on a 3D form/armature. You will start (and perhaps finish!) a 3D piece in class.
When: August 15, 10:30 am - 3 pm
Cost: $65 + $20 materials fee

Funky Magnets
|
|
|
|
Using magnetic sheets that you will cut out in any design you wish, you will make silly, funny, enchanting, or serious magnets. Use papers, fiber, beads, various mixed media supplies to create your unique images/decorations. Just a fun class, and a technique that you can teach children (adults do the cutting out of the shapes!).
When: September 3, 10:30 am - 3 pm

Dyeing with Ties
|
|
|
 
|
Oh, my, finally something to do with all those old silk ties from who knows when or who knows where! The dyes used in many silk ties are what is know as ‘fugitive’... meaning they are always on the run. They would be very happy running onto another piece of silk, complete with those funky patterns that so many ties, especially vintage ones, have. This class will show you just how that whole process works. You will be dyeing a silk scarf and/or other silk fabric. This process in this class gives of fumes, so if you are sensitive to odors/chemicals, this class is not for you as it will be taught indoors.
When: September 19, 10:30 am - 3 pm

Cards, Cards, Cards

Can’t find what you are looking for at the card shop? Make your own using techniques you will be introduced to in this fun class. These frame cards are also a great way to show off your creations.
